Welcome, Lee! How would you describe Love on Tour? Love On Tour follows the life of music executive Christine Matthews from her quiet behind-the-scenes existence to being thrust into the spotlight when country singing sensation, Austin Garrett, befriends her. Her life becomes exciting with concert tours, awards shows, and growing feelings for two men, while she also endures scrutiny, cyberbullying, and body shaming.
What sparked the idea for this book?
I’ve worked behind the scenes in the country music industry for decades and seen everything from the hard-working support teams to the excitement of super stardom, to the brutality of social media comments. I wanted to write a fun, romance-driven book that encompasses that.
How long did it take for you to write the book? Did you do any research?
It took about a year to write it and many years after to edit and revise. My research is my decades-long career in the music industry. When I had questions about a job that I’d never done, I spoke with people to get a better understanding.
What drew you to writing romance?
As a teen I read every Harlequin Romance that came out. I eagerly awaited the next one. I think it started there.
What’s your favorite part about writing/being an author? What do you find challenging?
My favorite part is seeing the characters and storyline come to life. The characters sometimes surprise me with where they go. My most challenging part is editing. I find going back and doing re-writes difficult. It takes me longer than it should.
If you were speaking to someone who hasn’t read your writing before, why should they want to read Love on Tour?
I like to write books that help people escape into another world while keeping it realistic enough that they can relate. Love On Tour deals with everyday issues from insecurities, to love, to friendship. And it gives a fun look at the music industry that not everyone gets to experience.
What do you hope readers will take away from this story?
I hope people will come away realizing what it means to support each other. Support our friends, our co-workers, or acquaintances. It’s our interpersonal relationships that matter. Seeing the good in other people and helping them see their great attributes the way you do can go a long way in building each other up.
What about the writing/editing/publishing process has been the most surprising to you so far?
How supportive everyone is. Other new writers are giving me tips, blurbs, and lifting me up. Editors jump in and make my story better than I ever could. Writing can be very solitary so to find so many people who want to share their experiences, what worked for them, and offer their help has been amazing.
Any words of wisdom you give your pre-published writer self (or to a new writer)?
Be patient and don’t get discouraged. Rejection is all a part of it. Believe in yourself and your writing and eventually, the rest will follow.
What are your interests outside of writing and reading?
I love music, water sports, boating, and any outdoor activities. I studied Tae Kwon Do for nearly 40 years and love the art of martial arts. I donated my kidney to a family member and advocate for kidney health and organ donation.
Are you working on a new project? Please tell us about it.
Right now, I’m very focused on promoting Love On Tour! It’s been a learning process how much is involved in releasing a novel. I’m having fun!
What was the last book you read? What did you think of it?
I’ve been reading the Sarah J. Maas Throne of Glass series. A friend bought me one of the books for Christmas. While I don’t generally read fantasy fiction, I’m really enjoying it. Her writing is enthralling, and I’m amazed by the world she has created.

Love On Tour
For fans of Jennifer Weiner and Helen Fielding, a debut contemporary women’s fiction novel about a woman in the country music industry navigating the ins and outs of friendship, love, jealousy, and life on tour.
Who knew a broken heel and bad fall would result in falling in love?
Though she has her dream job—finding new songs for singers in the booming country music industry—music executive Christine Matthews lives an unexciting life. That is, until a broken shoe sends her sprawling on the street right in front of Nashville singing sensation Austin Garrett’s tour bus, and Austin himself comes to her aid.
When Austin recognizes Christine as the woman who pitched him his recent number one hit, he invites her to be his date at the CMT Awards that night. Just like that, Christine is catapulted from a life of solitude to the spotlight, with Austin’s fans assuming she’s his new romantic interest. Suddenly, Christine’s the subject of much speculation—and criticism. Some jealous fans think she’s not pretty or thin enough, and they begin to cyber-bully and body shame her.
But that’s not the only reason Christine thinks accepting Austin’s invitation to join him on tour and help him find another big hit might be a bad idea. She’s also developing feelings for his tour manager, Matt. And one of her online bullies has turned threatening, bringing up trauma from Christine’s past. Is the turmoil worth it? Or is her only real solution to walk away from all of it—even the man who might just be the love of her life?
