Welcome, Susan! Please describe The Widow’s Web.

When tech mogul Brad Jones is found drowned off the Marin coast, his death is quickly ruled a suicide, but his wife, Dr. Anna Jones, a renowned cyber-psychologist, isn’t convinced. Driven by grief and suspicion, Anna begins to dig into Brad’s past, uncovering secrets that lead her deep into the world of Silicon Valley’s elite.

What sparked the idea for this book?

The idea for The Widow’s Web was sparked by my personal experiences of living and working in technology in Northern California for many years. I wanted to explore its unique culture in a fictional, dramatic way. Silicon Valley is such dynamic world, with its cutting-edge innovations and high-stakes competition. I think Dr. Anna Jones is in many ways a part of me – a UK born woman who moved to California. Her exposure to the upper echelons of San Francisco society echoes where I existed for a while, and some elements of her dot com journey were mine too. The darker experiences she goes through, however, are purely fictional.

What do you hope readers will take away from this story?

I hope readers gain a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the technology industry and how those at the top wield the power.  There’s definitely a universal need for people to be able to recognize who steers the industry, especially in the age of AI. The tech world is never as dull as it seems. Enjoy reading!

Are you working on a new project? Please tell us about it.

The sequel to The Widow’s Web. I’m already underway with it, and enjoying how it is unfolding.

What are your interests outside of writing and reading?

We’ve got a husky and wolf. Both love the outdoors and need long runs and walks, so free time is often spent out in the local countryside. Otherwise I’m reading novels, meeting up with friends, or headed to a yoga class.

The Widow’s Web

When tech mogul Brad Jones is found drowned off the Marin coast, his death is quickly ruled a suicide. But his wife, Dr. Anna Jones, a renowned cyber-psychologist, isn’t convinced. Driven by grief and suspicion, Anna begins to dig into Brad’s past, uncovering secrets that lead her deep into the world of Silicon Valley’s elite.

As Anna delves deeper, she crosses paths with Scott and Kristy Lyle, influential figures with connections reaching the highest echelons of tech power. The deeper Anna goes, the more she realizes Brad’s death is tied to a dark, long-buried secret-one that powerful people would kill to protect. Caught between the dangerous truth and powerful enemies, will Anna risk everything to expose the sinister forces at play?

The Widow’s Web is a gripping psychological thriller that explores ambition, betrayal, and the terrifying reality that our worst enemies may be those we trust the most. A must-read for fans of Gillian Flynn and Paula Hawkins, this novel will keep you guessing until the very last page.
