Please tell us a little about your book.
The very depth of psychological despair, coupled with the saving grace of friendship and love.
I love your title! How did you come up with it?
Actually, the title of my book was a collaborative project with me and my editor, Anna Michels. We ran lists and lists of potential titles by one another for about three months. Little Lovely Things was Anna’s idea and it jumped out at me so we called it a ringer!
How long did it take for you to write the book? Did you do have to do any research?
Close to ten years and yes I did a great deal of research since I deal with different languages in the book.
For you, what’s the hardest thing about writing?
Everything! Seriously, I find it difficult to make time, then I find it difficult to focus after which I find it difficult to develop all the ideas floating around in my head. My first drafts are also always very rough, so I need to go through many many more to simply get into to shape enough to read coherently.
What do you love most about it?
Completely and utterly disappearing, vanishing in my work. The joy of being immersed in pure imagination is like none other.

What are your interests outside of writing and reading?
So many! I love to cook, garden, paint, write poetry, take long walks, hang out with family and friends and participate on my dragon boat team which is active during the warm months.
